Inspiring the next generation of glass artist

Developing the Young Workforce, inspiring young people

I have been inspiring young people through the DYW, Developing the Young Workforce, initiative which is run throughout Scotland and spans a variety of age groups, from primary 6 & 7 through to secondary 1 – 3.  It is common practice to hold industry days where representatives from a variety of careers are invited into the school and participate in a number of actives, from basic presentations to ‘speed interviewing’.

I have been invited on a number of occasions and they are great fun.  I always bring a selection of my glass pieces that the pupils can interact with.  I’m always amazed at some of the great questions they ask about the art glass industry.

Its a very worthwhile initiative and an educational opportunity I like to participate with.
