Teacher Workshop
I facilitated a one day teacher workshop in collaboration with the City of Glasgow College’s Art Glass department, in order to help raise awareness of their Art Glass HND course. Secondary school art teachers from 57 schools were invited from across the central belt of Scotland, and it had to be a ‘first come first served’ to secure a spot.
The teachers were shown practical demonstrations from a variety of glass art techniques, including cutting, sandblasting, copper foiling and flameworking. After each demonstration the teachers were given the opportunity to explore each of the techniques and have some creative fun.
All of the teachers had a great day with most saying they hadn’t had so much fun for a long time, or it was brilliant to be able to learn a new skill in such a warm and encouraging workshop.
The teachers were given an overview of the College’s Creative Industry courses, with an emphasis on glass art, and asked to highlight the course to their art pupils.
The day finished with the teachers proudly taking home all of the pieces they made throughout the day.
